On 18 April 2024, Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat, Vice President of NXPO and Executive Director of APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF), delivered a presentation as an invited speaker at the International Academic Symposium “Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy”. Hosted by the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE), based in Moscow, Russia, the online symposium is an annual gathering of futurists from various economies to present latest research and development in technology foresight. 

Dr. Surachai’s presentation was featured in the “Foresight: Novelties in Methods and Organisation” session. In his presentation, he discussed how foresight tools were employed to develop policies for the “APEC STI Strategic Foresight: Net Zero Emission Strategy” project, carried out by APEC CTF with approval from APEC’s Policy Partnership for Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI). 

The project utilized tools such as Delphi surveys and the Futures Triangle to analyze strategic issues in the transition to net zero emissions in the Asia-Pacific region and identify plausible futures.
