NXPO and OSMEP release study report on BCG indicators for MSMEs

วันที่เผยแพร่ 11 July 2023

On July 11, 2023, NXPO and the Office of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion (OSMEP) organized an event to present a study report on BCG indicators for MSMEs. The study is part of the NXPO-OSMEP joint project to promote Thai micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) model.

In his opening remarks, OSMEP Director General Dr. Veerapong Malai stated that the project to promote Thai MSMEs with the BCG model was launched earlier this year to raise awareness about the BCG model and help MSMEs apply it to enhance their competitiveness. Seminars and activities will be organized both onsite and online for MSMEs throughout Thailand’s five regions.

The project also includes the development of BCG indicators to be used as a tool for enterprises to enhance their sustainability capacity, access to financial facilities and government support measures, and improve their competitiveness. The prototype indicator will be tested in July-August 2023, followed by stakeholder consultations and a public hearing.

NXPO President Dr. Kitipong Promwong remarked that in addition to this project, NXPO has been involved in multiple BCG policy initiatives. For this project, NXPO has collaborated with the Center for SDG Research and Support (SDG Move) of Thammasat University to conduct policy research, design BCG indicators and their assessment framework, identify agencies involved in the framework, and develop the capacity building program for MSMEs.

A series of seminars on BCG have been organized in partnership with academic institutes and industrial players, including Prince of Songkla University, Chiang Mai University, Udon Thani Rajabhat University, Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA), Solvay Group in Thailand, Sahapat Group, and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

As NXPO and OSMEP plan to develop an ecosystem that will facilitate MSMEs in applying the BCG model to their businesses, the BCG indicators will form a strong foundation to drive the ecosystem and enable enterprises to achieve business sustainability.

The event also featured a presentation on the BCG indicators by SDG Move Director Prof. Chol Bunnag and a seminar on strengthening businesses with the BCG model, with a panel of notable experts including Dr. Veerapong Malai, Mr. Chalerm Kokanutaporn of FTI, Dr. Peeraporn Palapleevalya of SCP Association (Thailand), Mr. Ekachai Eur-Areemitr of Laemchabang Imex Company Limited, and NXPO Director of Sustainable Development Policy and Future Planning Division Dr. Saravanee Singtong.
