Waste management study visit to Saraburi provides valuable data for a new area-based net zero-carbon project

A team from NXPO and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) made a study visit on 16 May 2023 to collect information on integrated solid waste management in Saraburi province for a new area-based net zero-carbon project. The team was led by NXPO Sustainability Policy Director Dr. Saravanee Singtong, NXPO Senior Policy Specialist Mr. Asira Chirawithayaboon, NXPO Policy Specialist Mr. Parinand Varnasavang, NXPO Policy Developer Ms. Doungkamon Phihusut, and ADB Urban Development Specialist Mr. Kyaw Thu.

The team visited Solid Waste Management Learning Center of Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) where Tan Diao Model has been developed for waste upcycling, resulting in an income creation for the community. At the learning center, they met with TISTR Deputy Governor Dr. Pratip Vongbandit and executives of local administrative organizations to provide information on the waste upcycling model.

A visit to SCIeco Services, a pioneer service provider in industrial waste processing business in Thailand, was made in the afternoon. SCIeco Waste Circularity Business Director Ms. Aumaporn Charoensak met with the team to provide information and gave a tour to the company’s facility processing industrial waste in cement production and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Power Plant.
