The Thai delegation led by Prof. Dr. Anek Laothamatas, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) paid an official visit to Lao PDR on 28-31 August 2022 to foster bilateral collaboration on higher education, science, research and innovation. Representing NXPO in the delegation were Vice President Dr. Kanchana Wanichkorn andDirector of International Policy Partnership Division Dr. Pranpreya Sriwannawit Lundberg. 

The Thai Minister met with his counterpart, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phouth Simmalavong, Minister of Education and Sports to discuss the collaboration on research and manpower development. A Letter of Intent was signed by the two ministers expressing the commitments of both parties to execute a scholarship program initiated during Lao Prime Minister’s official visit to Thailand on 1-2 June 2022. The scholarship program set up by MHESI will award 700 scholarships to Lao students to pursue bachelor’s up to doctoral degrees in various fields in Thailand, including 20 scholarships provided by Chulabhorn Royal Academy for bachelor and master of science in nursing, radiology and emergency medicine.
