วันที่เผยแพร่ 19 November 2022

NXPO took part in the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) as a working group member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and organized a side event on “Mechanisms for Technology Transfer to Combat Climate Change” at Thailand Pavilion. The COP27 was held during 3-18 November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. Representing NXPO at the conference was NXPO President Dr. Kitipong Promwong, along with Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat, Assistant to the President and Dr. Saravanee Singtong, Director of Sustainability Policy Division.

The COP27 Thailand Pavilion side event took place on 10 November with participation of experts in the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) operating under the UNFCCC. Joining the speaker panel were 1) Dr. Clara Landeiro, CTCN Regional Manager for Asia and the Pacific; 2) Professor Dr. Eugenie L. Birch, Nussdorf Professor of Urban Research and Education and the Chair of the Graduate Group in City and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania; and 3) Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat who serves as the focal point of Thailand’s national designated entity (NDE) in the CTCN.

Moderated by Dr. Saravanee Singtong, the session presented and discussed the collaborative framework and mechanism to facilitate an exchange and transfer of climate technology as well as urban planning to support climate change mitigation and adaptation in Thailand. The proposed framework and mechanism will form a platform for technology transfer upon which domestic and international agencies can collaborate. The platform will promote the development of technology for emissions reduction and climate change adaptation for various sectors, facilitate finance and investment from local and international funding sources, including private funds, and support projects that involve the scaleup and demonstration of climate technology.
