NXPO participates in PPSTI Symposium to advance technological innovation for a climate-resilient and future-ready APEC

วันที่เผยแพร่ 27 August 2026

Dr. Kommate Jitvanichphaibool, Assistant to the President of NXPO, participated in the PPSTI Symposium under the theme “Technological Innovation for a Climate-Resilient and Future-Ready APEC,” held on 18 August 2026 at the Dalian International Conference Center in Dalian, China.

The symposium was organized by the APEC Climate Center (APCC) in collaboration with the APEC Center for Technology Transfer (APCTT) under the Policy Partnership for Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI). Korea served as the project’s proposing economy, while Thailand was among the co-sponsoring economies, together with Peru, China, Chinese Taipei, and Viet Nam. The symposium provided a platform for APEC economies to exchange knowledge on advanced forecasting technologies and digital tools for managing risks associated with extreme weather events. It also explored approaches to applying these technologies at the local level to strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience through science-based policy recommendations.

Key sessions included a keynote presentation on “Technological Innovation for a Climate-Resilient and Future-Ready APEC,” a presentation on “Strengthening Extreme Weather Preparedness: Advanced Forecasting and Early Warning Systems,” and a panel discussion on “From Technological Innovation to Action: Translating Science into Action for Enhanced Extreme Risk Management.” The program also included a field visit. During the symposium, Dr. Kommate highlighted Thailand’s technology needs for mitigating the impacts of climate change. One of the key technologies identified was an integrated modeling platform that combines diverse datasets, including climate and water-related data, to monitor and forecast conditions, issue early warnings, and provide recommendations for appropriate responses during disasters. Such a platform could also serve as a decision-support tool for policymakers.

As the host of the APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF), NXPO remains committed to advancing science, technology, and innovation and contributing to the development of cooperation opportunities among APEC economies. These efforts will contribute to Thailand’s continued advancement and long-term development.
