NXPO participated in the UK–ASEAN Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Summit 2025, held from 6–8 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Organized by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the 3-day summit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the United Kingdom and ASEAN member countries in the development and governance of artificial intelligence (AI). The event focused on knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the creation of an inclusive and sustainable AI innovation ecosystem.
On 7 October 2025, Prof. Dr. Surin Khomfoi, Vice President of NXPO, joined a panel discussion on “Building an Inclusive and Future-Ready AI Talent Ecosystem.”
He outlined three key principles guiding Thailand’s AI talent development:
- Diversity — Encouraging participation from experts across multiple disciplines in AI development to ensure technologies are designed to serve the broader society.
- Inclusion and Access — Promoting equal opportunities for all groups to access learning and develop digital and AI skills.
- Education Excellence — Advancing curriculum design and learning systems through collaboration among higher education institutions, the public sector, and industry to cultivate high-competency professionals equipped for the AI era.
He further emphasized that “sustainable AI development cannot be achieved by any single country alone. International cooperation—particularly between the UK and ASEAN—will be crucial to building a responsible, inclusive AI ecosystem that drives the shared future economy.”
This summit marked a significant milestone in strengthening UK-ASEAN collaboration, fostering the exchange of knowledge and the development of policy, research, and innovation networks in AI. This collaboration aims to position both regions as strategic partners in advancing ethical and sustainable AI for the future.
