MHESI-NXPO highlights Thailand’s participation in COP30

วันที่เผยแพร่ 7 October 2025

Dr. Saravanee Singtong, Director of the Sustainability Policy Division at NXPO, participated in the Thailand Climate Action Conference (TCAC 2025), held under the theme “Inspiring Climate Solutions for All” on 30 September 2025. She joined a panel discussion on COP30 alongside representatives from the Department of Climate Change and Environment (CCE), the Assembly of NGOs for the Protection and Conservation of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA).

Dr. Saravanee highlighted NXPO’s role as part of the Thai delegation to the Conference of the Parties (COP), overseeing issues related to technology, innovation, and systems research. At COP30, NXPO also participated in side events and co-organized, with DCCE, the Innovation Zone which showcased innovations from Thai companies at the Thai Pavilion.

As a policy and advocacy agency, NXPO develops strategies for higher education, science, research, and innovation. It also serves as Thailand’s National Designated Entity (NDE) under the UNFCCC, coordinating national efforts in climate technology development and transfer. Through these roles, NXPO brings extensive expertise, including a deep understanding of the National Innovation System (NIS), climate change adaptation and mitigation, water management, and circular and green economy initiatives implemented in collaboration with businesses. This strong foundation enables NXPO to engage in bilateral discussions with other member countries and international organizations, helping Thailand strengthen its visibility on the global stage. As a result, Thailand was selected to represent developing countries at the 60th Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 60), contributing to the drafting of detailed agreements under SBI 61, Item 14(b) of the provisional agenda: “Matters relating to technology development and transfer – Linkages between the Technology Mechanism and the Financial Mechanism.” These efforts laid the groundwork for negotiations and agreement details at COP29 and COP30.

Dr. Saravanee emphasized that with strategic planning and clear positioning, Thailand can actively shape international discussions, ensuring future agreements among the Parties reflect the country’s context and priorities. She also noted Thailand’s strong commitment to the global climate mission, expressing confidence that leveraging international mechanisms will allow the country to advance both national interests and global sustainability goals. A clear and proactive role on the global stage will enhance Thailand’s access to opportunities that benefit both the country and the world.
