On 10 March 2026, Dr. Saravanee Singtong, Director of the Sustainability Policy Division at NXPO, attended the launch of “Empowering Thai SMEs Toward the Future.” The initiative, jointly organized by the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) and Thammasat University, aims to strengthen the capabilities of Thai SMEs and support their sustainable growth. The event also introduced the initiative’s strategic partners, including NXPO. Dr. Panita Shinawatra, Deputy Director and Acting Director of OSMEP, presided over the launch.

Dr. Saravanee highlighted NXPO’s role as a partner in the initiative, noting that the project is structured around three key pillars: 1) Digital Transition – promoting the adoption of digital technologies in production processes and management systems; 2) Innovation Transition – supporting value creation through advanced research, innovation; and 3) Green Transition – enabling business operations to align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. As a national policy agency in higher education, science, research, and innovation, NXPO seeks to support enterprises in leveraging innovation to enhance competitiveness. NXPO has also worked closely with OSMEP in developing the Green Enterprises Indicators for Circular Economy and Green Economy (GEI). This national standard serves as a mechanism to connect SMEs with financial facilities and incentives that support their transition toward green supply chains and expanding green markets. The initiative also promotes the development of a highly skilled workforce to support Thailand’s transition to a low-carbon economy and society.
The initiative aligns with a draft collaboration agreement among several organizations, including the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), MHESI, the Ministry of Industry (MOI), OSMEP, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC), and the Thai Sustainable Consumption and Production Network (Thai SCP Network). In late 2024, these organizations jointly declared their commitment to advancing an innovation ecosystem that supports SMEs in transitioning toward a circular and green economy. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen green supply chains, expand access to green markets, and help Thai enterprises overcome emerging trade barriers—thereby enhancing the competitiveness of both Thai businesses and the national economy. It also contributes to Thailand’s goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
