{"id":6680,"date":"2021-01-06T13:41:51","date_gmt":"2021-01-06T06:41:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/?p=6680"},"modified":"2021-01-06T13:41:55","modified_gmt":"2021-01-06T06:41:55","slug":"happy-model-for-the-future-of-thai-tourism-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/en\/6680\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy Model for the future of Thai tourism industry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>NXPO invited Mr. Kalin Sarasin, Chairman, The Thai Chamber of Commerce to&nbsp;share information on&nbsp;Happy Model&nbsp;at&nbsp;its&nbsp;recent Recovery Forum.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy Model is introduced to revive Thailand\u2019s tourism industry badly suffered from the pandemic.&nbsp; At the pre-COVID time, the tourism industry generated around 3 trillion THB revenue, of which 2 trillion THB were contributed by international tourists. Happy Model aims at promoting the medical and wellness tourism \u2013 a high-value and high-growth-potential sector \u2013 and strengthening local communities. The model intends to attract tourists with the following components: 1) healthy, safe and delicious food, 2) accommodation offering top services and amenities including message\/spa and meditation, 3) active lifestyle through activities such as biking, diving, mountain climbing and boxing, and 4) learning and sharing local culture\/knowledge with communities through activities such as volunteer teaching and reforestation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"719\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-2.jpeg\" alt=\"A picture containing text, monitor, indoor, screenshot\n\nDescription automatically generated\" class=\"wp-image-6683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-2.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-2-300x211.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-2-768x539.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"646\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-1.jpeg\" alt=\"A picture containing diagram\n\nDescription automatically generated\" class=\"wp-image-6682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-1.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-1-300x189.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.nxpo.or.th\/th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/image-1-768x485.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Kalin underscored engagement of local communities as a success factor to drive&nbsp;the&nbsp;wellness tourism.&nbsp;Local people can help&nbsp;identify new&nbsp;unseen&nbsp;attractions, highlight unique culture and traditions&nbsp;and organize&nbsp;fun&nbsp;activities\/campaigns, thus allowing each area to develop its own unique story to speak to visitors.&nbsp;At the same time, they can help maintain the standards and sustain the activities and industry&nbsp;in their own&nbsp;communties.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Kalin also stressed the need to develop manpower and educate business operators. Workers&nbsp;and business operators would need to acquire new knowledge and skills in the four key components. To offer healthy food, knowledge such as nutrition, food packaging,&nbsp;storytelling, brand building&nbsp;is essential. For hotel and accommodation, skills such as&nbsp;hotel management, safety &amp; environmental management&nbsp;are important.&nbsp;Experts on lifestyle and sports are needed to support lifestyle component. For learning and sharing component, skill such as social media is useful.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Kitipong Promwong, NXPO President commented that Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation\u00a0(MHESI)\u00a0can\u00a0make\u00a0contribution\u00a0to the Happy Model, through MHESI\u2019s reskilling and upskilling program and area-based knowledge and network that have been developed by the Program Management Unit for Area-based Development (PMU-A).
