On 19 May 2026, Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat, President of NXPO, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Suppakorn Poonyarith, Vice President of NXPO, participated in a meeting of the Council of Rajabhat University Presidents, hosted by Suratthani Rajabhat University. Representatives from 38 Rajabhat Universities nationwide attended the meeting. During the session, NXPO presented the draft Social Innovation Index for Thai Higher Education Institutions and invited universities to join a pilot initiative for data collection and testing of the assessment framework.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Social Innovation Index is being developed as a systematic tool to assess and reflect the role and capacity of higher education institutions in driving social innovation. It aims to shift the focus from project-based evaluation toward a system-level approach that measures tangible outcomes and impacts. The framework covers key dimensions, including institutional policies and governance, resource support mechanisms, teaching and learning, research and community engagement, as well as infrastructure and internal support systems, enabling universities to demonstrate their social contributions more comprehensively.<\/p>\n\n\n

NXPO also outlined the next phase of development, which emphasizes close collaboration with higher education institutions through pilot data collection, testing the suitability of indicators, gathering stakeholder feedback, and refining the assessment methodology. This co-creation process aims to ensure that the index is aligned with the context of Thai higher education and can be effectively applied in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n

Participants exchanged views on the role of Rajabhat Universities in regional development and social impact creation. They highlighted the universities\u2019 unique strength in maintaining close connections with local communities, enabling them to serve as important drivers of area-based social innovation. Participants also noted that a systematic framework for collecting data and assessing performance would help universities better communicate their value and societal impact to policymakers and the broader public.<\/p>\n\n\n
