On 19 February 2026, NXPO convened a meeting of the Mitigation Working Group under the second Thailand Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) project. The TNA is conducted within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) serving as the implementing agency, to support Thailand in assessing and prioritizing climate-related technology needs.<\/p>\n\n\n

Thailand remains firmly committed to tackling climate change, particularly through greenhouse gas mitigation and enhanced implementation capacity in line with global frameworks. In pursuit of its target to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, Thailand must systematically identify and prioritize appropriate technologies in key sectors. These prioritized technologies will be formally proposed to the international community through Thailand\u2019s national TNA report, thereby opening opportunities for financial assistance and technology transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n

The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Wongkot Wongsapai, Vice President of NXPO, who led discussions for both the energy and agriculture sectors. He underscored the strategic importance of the TNA process for Thailand and highlighted the critical role of the sectoral working groups in providing technical inputs to ensure that mitigation technologies are prioritized in alignment with national context.<\/p>\n\n\n

The working group comprises representatives from relevant sectors, including government agencies, the private sector, and financial institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key deliberations focused on reviewing an initial longlist of 12 technologies for the energy sector and 8 technologies for the agriculture sector. These were assessed and prioritized based on criteria established by UNEP. Inputs and recommendations from working group members will be incorporated to refine and consolidate a shortlist of priority technologies for the next phase of the TNA process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
