NXPO, in collaboration with the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University, organized \u201cCREATORVERSE: Shaping Thailand Creator Economy\u201d to present research findings and policy recommendations aimed at driving sustainable growth of Thailand\u2019s creator economy. The event was held on 1 December 2025 at Samyan Mitrtown.<\/p>\n\n\n

Assoc. Prof. Wongkot Wongsapai, Vice President of NXPO, officially opened the event, emphasizing that developing the creator economy requires cultivating talent capable of producing impactful work that benefits society\u2014a key driver of national growth and resilience. He noted that today\u2019s creators have a much broader scope than before, extending beyond fashion, food, and travel to include expertise in fields such as science, technology, and innovation, delivering knowledge accessibly and generating new value for society. He also highlighted the potential for Thai creators to expand internationally by presenting stories creatively and engaging global audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NXPO encourages Thai creators to leverage foreign languages, such as English or Japanese, to become \u201cCreator Titans\u201d and maximize the opportunities offered by online platforms. NXPO believes that these policy recommendations will play a critical role in shaping the country\u2019s science, research, and innovation policies, while also boosting Thai creators\u2019 international competitiveness and contribution to long-term economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asst. Prof. Dr. Sakulsri Srisaracam, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University, and project lead, noted that the creator economy is expanding rapidly worldwide. Creators are not merely content producers on digital platforms but \u201cvalue creators\u201d, generating economic and social impact through creativity, communication skills, and personal identity. Research findings identified gaps in incubation, creators, platforms, technology, funding, infrastructure, professional standards, learning skills, and market access. Addressing these gaps systematically could enable the creator economy to serve as a genuine driver of both the creative economy and local economies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further emphasized that creator development involves nurturing Thailand\u2019s broader creative workforce. Creators rarely work alone; they rely on diverse teams including editors, scriptwriters, producers, graphic designers, marketers, and managers. This creates demand for highly skilled talent along the media production value chain, especially for creators with specialized expertise who can align their work with national development strategies in tourism, health, culture, and science and technology. Dr. Sakulsri highlighted that equipping creators with entrepreneurial skills and domain knowledge can transform them into \u201cCreatorpreneurs\u201d capable of significant economic impact. Research also shows that creator skills\u2014storytelling, content production, and digital communication\u2014are increasingly essential across industries, enhancing competitiveness, supporting SME growth, and empowering the next-generation workforce in the digital economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panel 1: Respond to Policy \u2014 Quick Win<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this session, Assoc. Prof. Wongkot explained that NXPO promotes creator talent through project-based learning, encouraging universities, particularly faculties of communication arts, to adapt curricula for hands-on industry collaboration. NXPO also proposes establishing Creator Labs nationwide, enabling students to work directly with the real sector. Additionally, NXPO supports upskilling and reskilling with new technologies and promotes content production in science, technology, and innovation. Universities across Thailand will play a key role in building the skills and knowledge of creators for future growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Dhanakorn Srisooksai, Manager of the Thai Media Fund, emphasized that the creative and creator economy is a critical avenue for national survival, particularly as traditional exports and tourism slow. Modern economic value stems from the \u201cbelief\u201d and \u201cstory\u201d that products convey, similar to global brands. He recommended that Thailand focus on quality tourism, prioritizing unique experiences over visitor numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thai Media Fund offers grants for safe and creative media production for individuals, startups, and large-scale projects through a matching fund. Dr. Dhanakorn also proposed that the government regulate online platforms to address harmful content and protect users, while supporting private sector initiatives instead of building platforms independently, ensuring sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Suvita Charanwong, CEO and co-founder of Tellscore Company Limited, highlighted that foreign platform algorithms often prioritize revenue over user well-being and suggested government involvement to encourage algorithms promoting beneficial content. She emphasized that public-private-academic collaboration is essential to elevate content creation and influencer careers into officially recognized professions with ethical oversight and sustainable governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Khajorn Chiaranaipanich, Managing Director of The Zero Publishing, noted that while Thailand\u2019s creator industry is growing, it remains fragile, facing challenges such as welfare, rights protection, fluctuating income, and limited bargaining power. He urged the formation of a Creators Association of Thailand or collaborative networks to represent creators\u2019 voices, shape policies, and establish standards. He also called for increased collaboration between government and private sectors on welfare, pricing, and ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panel 2: Creator Voice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This panel featured prominent Thai creators who discussed major challenges including differentiation and ethics\u2014standing out while maintaining ethical standards\u2014requiring a balance between income and sustainability. Revenue from sponsors, views, or affiliates remains unstable, sometimes prompting creators to produce negative content. Platform constraints also require constant adaptation to changing algorithms and rules, often without negotiation power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panelists emphasized that building a strong fanbase is key to sustainability and reducing reliance on algorithms. They called on the government to provide supportive mechanisms, ensure equitable access to funding, and establish a central agency to facilitate information sharing and collaboration, enabling the Thai creator industry to grow sustainably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
