Dr. Pranpreya Sriwannawit Lundberg, Director of International Policy Partnership Division at NXPO, took part in the Thailand-China Policy Forum: Advancing Cooperation towards Common Prosperity in a Changing Geopolitical Landscape, held as part of the Thailand Research Expo 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n

Jointly organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and the Office of the Prime Minister on 19 June 2025, the forum commemorated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. It served as a platform for experts and policymakers from both countries to exchange perspectives on key areas of collaboration, including economic development, innovation, technology, and sustainable growth. Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of MHESI, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address titled \u201cResearch and Innovation: Driving Force of National Development.\u201d In his remarks, he underscored the pivotal role of research and innovation in achieving sustainable development and enhancing Thailand\u2019s global competitiveness. His message reflected MHESI\u2019s commitment to advancing national development through science, research, and innovation, while deepening strategic partnerships with key partners \u2014 notably China. Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of NRCT, outlined the forum\u2019s objectives, highlighting its role in fostering dialogue, strengthening networks, and building sustainable cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n

Dr. Pranpreya moderated the panel discussion \u201cShaping Tomorrow: Thailand-China Tech Cooperation,\u201d featuring Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yossapong Laoonual, Honorary Chairman and Advisor of Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT); Dr. Wutthinan Jeamsaksiri, Senior Researcher at Thai Microelectronics Center (TMEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA); and Mr. Surasak Wanichwatphibun, Chief Technology Officer of Huawei Thailand Cloud Business. The session explored opportunities for advancing Thailand-China collaboration in three emerging industries: electric vehicles (EV), semiconductors, and artificial intelligence (AI).<\/p>\n\n\n

Key topics included strategies for fostering bilateral cooperation to deliver mutual benefits, mechanisms for joint research and workforce development in response to technological disruption and foreign investment, approaches for increasing employment opportunities in these sectors for Thais, and projections for industry growth and trends over the next five years.<\/p>\n\n\n
