NXPO, in collaboration with the Management System Certification Institute ( Thailand) or MASCI, the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), hosted a focus group meeting on the development of Green Enterprise Indicator (GEI) on 3 February 2025. The activity is part of the project to establish standard indicators for circular and green enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n

In his welcome remarks, NXPO President Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat underscored the importance of GEI in advancing Thailand\u2019s Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) agenda. He highlighted NXPO\u2019s role in drafting a BCG white paper in collaboration with the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA)\u2014a document that was later adopted as a national agenda. To drive BCG implementation, NXPO launched a project to promote the BCG model among Thai micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during 2023-2024. This initiative, jointly undertaken with the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) and Thammasat University\u2019s Center for SDG Research and Support (SDG Move), resulted in the development of BCG indicator, later adopted by OSMEP and expanded into the Green SME Index in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRecognizing its importance, NXPO has partnered with MASCI, TISI, and FTI to develop GEI, with a plan to integrate it into the national conformity assessment standard. This effort aims to strengthen the innovation ecosystem, support enterprises in their green transition, and help them overcome global trade barriers. The focus group meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to contribute insights toward defining the standard and shaping its implementation,\u201d said Dr. Surachai.<\/p>\n\n\n

Following the welcome remarks, Ms. Jureepon Boonlong, Project Manager at MASCI, presented the project\u2019s objective, stating that the GEI framework is designed to facilitate the green transition of businesses in Thailand. The project also aims to develop roadmaps for short- and long-term implementation, an evaluation system, and a business engagement program to promote awareness and adoption of GEI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GEI standard encompasses four key dimensions: 1) Environmental Management & Circular Economy, 2)  Value Chain & Collaboration, 3) Governance & Transparency, and 4) Innovation & Transition. Key recommendations to support businesses in adopting the GEI include: 1) Developing tailored guidelines and tools for enterprises of different sizes and resource capacities, 2) Establishing collaborative networks to facilitate knowledge and resource sharing among businesses, 3) Providing financial support mechanisms to help enterprises improve performance in line with each GEI criteria, and 4) Enhancing advisory and technical support systems to assist businesses with implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session engaged stakeholders from academia, industry, government agencies, and financial institutions, fostering a multi-stakeholder approach to advancing Thailand\u2019s circular and green economy.<\/p>\n\n\n
