NXPO and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) recently organized a two-day technical workshop to define common priorities for collaboration on science, technology and innovation (STI) for the sustainable and inclusive development of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam (CLTV).  The workshop is part of the South-South and Triangular Collaboration Programme on Science, Technology and Innovation among CLTV. Presided over the opening ceremony on 24 August was Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and ESCAP Executive Secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was a gathering of 60 policymakers and experts from CLTV with an opportunity to share perspectives, realize the potential of STI to address regional socio-economic and environmental priorities and identify priorities for STI collaboration among CLTV. NXPO plays a key role in this South-South and Triangular Collaboration Programme in identifying and supporting the policy and strategy development to achieve the national goals, as well as coordinating with local and international organizations to drive STI collaboration in the following areas: digital economy, human capital, agriculture, circular & green economy, and private sector collaboration. <\/p>\n\n\n

The workshop program also included a study tour to True Digital Park and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) situated at the Thailand Science Park. At NSTDA, the delegates visited NSTDA research facilities including Thailand Bioresource Research Center, Nanoparticles and Cosmetics Production Plant and the National Omics Center. True Digital Park is the first park in Thailand and the largest in Southeast Asia to provide a complete ecosystem to foster startups and tech businesses. The park currently serves over 1,400 clients including startups, SMEs, venture capitals representing diverse businesses such as digital content, social platforms, e-commerce, robotics, FinTech, PropTech and AgriTech, and has launched four startup unicorns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
